Assignment 1: Student Created Email Etiquette Guidelines

Goal 1: Create a list of the student chosen Top Ten Email Etiquette Guidelines for middle school students.

Step 1: Search the Internet

  • In groups of 2, students will search the Internet for email etiquette guidelines.
  • If you do not know how to search the Internet, please refer to the Search Tutorial. 
  • If you are not successful with your search, please refer to Help! Sites.

Step 2: Create Colorful Poster

  • In groups of 2, the students will create an 8.5” x 11” poster of the Top Ten Email Etiquette Guidelines for a formal email created by middle school students. 

  • Create or select the email etiquette guidelines you would like to use for this project. All work should be in your own words.

  • Students will be expected to explain any item listed and/or how it applies to middle school students to the teacher.

Step 3: Assessment

  • The poster will contain the student chosen Top Ten Email Etiquette Guidelines for middle school students including a footer, title, 3 different types of font, 3 sizes of font, 3 colors, a line, and a graphic.  The footer will include the names of the students, class period, date, and assignment description of email etiquette.
  • Review the Guidelines Rubric.
  • Students are permitted to correct the assignment for full points until the date specified by the teacher. 

Step 4: Print Poster

  • Two copies of the poster will be printed in color.
  • Place one copy of the poster in the appropriate To Grade folder.
  • Tape the second copy to the display area in the back of the room.
